- About !Snake
- ------------
-
- This is another edition of the well-known Snake game. The goal of the game
- is to move a snake around the screen, collecting points by eating mice. You
- must avoid running into yourself or hitting the border. This will get more
- and more difficult, because the snake gets a little longer with every mouse
- that is eaten.
-
- This program started its life as a version of !Snake by Jason Williams. It
- has been largely modified, to make it run in the desktop, and to make the
- movement of the snake smoother.
-
- !Snake is FreeWare. For conditions of use, read the copyright notice at the
- end of this manual.

-
- Starting the program
- --------------------
-
- As usual, the program is started by double-clicking on its icon in a filer
- window. It will install itself on the icon bar. You can bring up the main
- menu in the normal way, by clicking the Menu mouse button over the icon on
- the icon bar. The main menu contains the usual "Info" and "Quit" options, an
- options window, where you can set the game speed and switch the sound on or
- off. The speed can be in the range from 1 (slow) to 9 (fast).
-
- Though the program is multitasking, the game itself is run outside the
- desktop. Multitasking stops while playing, and is resumed when you return to
- the desktop.

- Collecting points
- -----------------
-
- Eating a mouse is done by running into it. This brings you 1 to 11 points,
- depending on the time it took you to get to the mouse. You have about 10
- seconds to reach the mouse. If you are too late, the mouse changes to a
- grave. Running into a grave is also deadly, so avoid these.
-
- A list of the 10 best scores is stored in a file. After some practice,
- you'll make it to first place (over 500 points), but can you get to 1000
- points?
-
- Inside the application directory there is a little program called
- InitScores. You can run this to reset the high scores.
